The Czech team wins four gold and one bronze at the European Championship Combined Game Shooting Final 2022!

18. 7. 2022

This year's 14th edition of the European Championship Combined Game Shooting Final took place from 1 - 3 July at the TAV Piancardato sports club shooting range in the Italian village of Collazzone, which is located within the province of Perugia in the Umbria region. The Czech national team took home a total of five medals - four gold and one bronze. All Czech competitors used CZ 527 Varmint centerfire rifles.

The Czech shooters went to the European Championship with the largest line-up ever, which consisted of 17 competitors and several accompanying persons. The six-member team emerged from qualification competitions and consisted of Zbynek Cervenka, Hubert Herel, Karel Kotrc, Tomas Stanek, Martin Slechta and Pavel Zazvorka. They were supported by Jan Buksa, one of the most successful combined game shooters. Jiri Stengl took on the role of team builder.

The last time the Czech team was in Piancardato was in 2018 at the European Championship Combined Game Shooting Final. Since then, the shooting range has expanded with new shotgun ranges, together with the centerfire rifle range having undergone positive changes.

The Czech team’s best showing was in centerfire rifle shooting, where they won gold. Its other success was winning a bronze medal in the main discipline – Combined Game Shooting.

In the individual centerfire rifle category, Martin Slechta took first place after scoring 199 points out of a possible 200 in the centerfire rifle game shooting on a moving target and 198 points on a stationary target.

Michaela Stenglova won in the women's category. Thanks to Michaela, the Czech team normally secures medal positions.

Frequent participant Milan Kirchner also did well, winning another gold medal for the Czech team in the Veterans category.

All Czech competitors used a special sport variation of the CZ 527 Varmint centerfire rifle, which was jointly developed by CZ and Czech team representatives in 2013. This version of the rifle has been winning medals at European Championships for an extended period of time, beating out specials from renowned competing brands.

Many thanks go out to all partners who supported Czech participation in the European Championship Combined Game Shooting Final. It’s a highly distinguished discipline where the Czech Republic brings home medals every year.
