CZ supporting Chicago celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the founding of Czechoslovakia

The centennial of the founding of the Czechoslovak Republic, as well the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the independent Czech Republic are the main themes for the many social and cultural events taking place in Chicago, United States, in the autumn of 2018. The main event, the Czech Centennial Gala, will take place on Friday, 28th September 2018. Together with its daughter company, CZ-USA, Česká zbrojovka a.s. is the main platinum sponsor of the celebrations, organized by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Chicago.

Although the state that came into being 100 years ago no longer exists, many of the ideas that it had been built on remain alive. “Thanks to its strong industrial base, the first Czechoslovak Republic belonged to the top ten world economies. And we carry on in this tradition,” Lubomír Kovařík, the President of Česká zbrojovka a.s. states. “CZ is the only direct successor of the famous Czechoslovakian arms industry tradition and also one the largest companies in the world specializing in the development and manufacture of handguns. We are a partner to the Armed as well as Police Forces not only in the Czech Republic but also in many other countries. We constantly bring out new products and support various types of hunting and sport shooting. Thanks to its handgun production and a strong automotive and aviation division, CZ is the largest Czech exporter to the USA. The Czechoslovak armament base was built in the spirit of this motto: “A firearm in the hands of courageous defenders is the best guarantee of the nation’s freedom!” And we continue supporting the principles upon which Czechoslovakia was formed 100 years ago in many respects. Indeed, we are very proud to also be able to support the centennial celebrations in Chicago.”

Moreover, this year is also an important year for CZ-USA. Twenty years ago, CZ found another home overseas, in Kansas, just like many Czechs would do from the beginning of the 19th century. Today, tens of thousands of Kansas residents have Czech ancestors and CZ’s daughter company has always been a proud supporter of their activities.

Also, this year sees the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Dan Wesson company, another member of the CZ family in the USA. In commemoration of this date, the company has created a special pistol.

Apart from the Czech Centennial Gala, Chicago will see many cultural events backed by CZ and CZ-USA take place for the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the independent Czechoslovakia. To name a few, there will be an art exhibition Great Artists & Czech Patriots with Strong Chicago Connections that shall present artworks by Alfons Mucha, Albín Polášek and Vojtěch Preissig; the “Czech Rock Lions” concert will welcome Jim Peterik and Petr Janda; and the guests and compatriots will also be able to visit the 79th Moravian Day. The grand finale of the celebrations will undoubtedly be a concert of the Czech Philharmonic with their rendition of Antonín Dvořák’s World Symphony.
