Czech Teams Dominate the 10th Sniper Championship

Between the 23rd and 27th April 2018, the 10th Sniper Championship took place at the military shooting range in Bzenec and the Libavá military training area. Czech Republic has been organizing this type of competition since 1998. The Sniper Championship is aimed mainly at military snipers, although members of other armed forces and special guests also take part.

This year, there were nearly 30 teams from 8 countries, for example Slovenia, Finland, United States, Great Britain, France, etc. The main organizer was the 7th Mechanized Brigade in cooperation with Meopta, Česká zbrojovka and Sellier & Bellot.

The teams had to deal with several shooting events, including shooting from various positions at different types of targets placed at various distances. Time limits were imposed for the preparation of weapons and subsequent firing, often just seconds. In addition, the teams had to shoot from a military helicopter, a moving vehicle, at targets placed at unknown distances, and also at night, under poor visibility. The individual tasks were prepared to resemble reality as much as possible and were based on true events.

Two members of the Czech Rapid Reaction Unit (URNA) became the overall winners, while two of their colleagues came third. The second place went to a team from the Military Police.

As the sponsor of the event, CZ would like to say congratulations to the winners of individual events and a many thanks to all the participants as well as the organizers for their excellent professional work.
