CZ continues to thrive

For a long time, stability and growth have been two qualities attributed to Česká zbrojovka a.s. and recent years have been no exception – the company continues to thrive. This trend was once again confirmed in 2016 when the company made further profit. In 2016, the turnover of the CZ consolidated group reached CZK 5 billion, the EBITDA exceeded CZK 1.1 billion, and the economic results after tax was more than CZK 600 million.

Last year, the company sold more than 300,000 weapons in three categories – hunting weapons, sport weapons and weapons for armed forces. Their exports made up over 90% of the production and the company traded with 100 countries from all over the world. The largest territories outside the Czech Republic and Slovakia are traditionally European countries as a whole, followed by Thailand, Canada and, above all, the United States, home of the company’s subsidiary, CZ-USA. The United States are by far the most significant market for CZ, as the company sells around half of its total production there.

In recent years, the company has radically modernized its manufacturing facilities and introduced a new generation of cutting-edge weapons for both the service and civilian markets. They include the CZ SCORPION EVO 3 A1 submachine gun, CZ 805 BREN and CZ BREN 2 assault rifles, CZ P-07, P-09 and P-10 C pistols, CZ 455 modular rimfire rifles, CZ 557 rifles, Brno Combo rifle/shotgun and others.

Weapons for the armed forces constitute a key part of CZ’s production, the company continues to supply the Army of the Czech Republic as well as foreign armed forces. Potential customers show great interest in the company’s latest weapons, as demonstrated for example at the IDEX 2017 trade fair where the CZ-10 C pistol and the CZ BREN 2 assault rifle enjoyed their official premiere in the Middle East. What is more, the elite French anti-terrorist unit GIGN have also ordered the company’s state-of-the-art CZ BREN 2 assault rifles.

In addition, CZ has also achieved success in their “non-arms” sector. Approximately a tenth of the company’s sales is generated from the production of automotive and aviation components. Apart from sales, this sector applies new information from other parts of production regarding the highly competitive automotive industry and the extremely reliable aerospace industry, the most significant customer being GE Aviation.
