Česká zbrojovka a.s. launched the Stage III. of rearmament of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. During this course the soldiers will receive a modernized type of the assault rifle designated as the CZ BREN 2.
The third Stage of the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic rearmament was commenced on November 1, 2016 by handover of the new CZ BREN 2 assault rifles at a military facility in Štěpánov near the town of Olomouc. Under this year´s amendments to contract executed in the previous year the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic will accept in November a total of 2 600 pcs of the CZ BREN 2 assault rifles, from which 1 900 pcs will be delivered with 14" barrel and 700 pcs with 11" barrel. The entire contract will be fulfilled by November 30, 2016.
The CZ BREN 2 is the next generation assault rifle from the CZ brand family of service weapons. This weapon was designed for the most demanding users from specialized units and armed forces operating anywhere in the world. Today the Bren is used by armed forces and security units in 42 countries of the world. Weapon´s design is based on proven tapping the combustion gases from the barrel with option of three-stage regulation of the piston mechanism. The CZ Bren 2 is characterized by extreme reliability and durability under all conditions exhibiting high accuracy and long service life. Light weight and compact dimensions make handling fast and comfortable. Controls are ambidextrous and easy to reach. Elaborated ergonomics guarantees outstanding shooting. Materials used are non-combustible or have increased fire resistance, as well as being resistant to impacts and mechanical damage. Basic disassembly and assembly for routine maintenance can be carried out without the need for any tools.
Immediately after introducing the CZ BREN 2 on this year´s Eurosatory exhibition in Paris this weapon attracted a strong interest from specialized unit’s personnel in a number of NATO countries and in several of these countries a successful testing has been already carried out. The most appreciated properties were absolute reliability, handling and accuracy. ”It´s a great weapon and we are proud that we can supply this weapon to the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic. These weapons increase combat capabilities of armed forces, which nowadays, when the security situation in the world is deteriorating are one of key factors,“ said Lubomír Kovařík, General Manager of CZ.
The CZ BREN 2 are delivered to the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic including accessories comprising optical devices, tactical knives, transport packaging, armorers tool kits and spare parts sets. In connection with this trade implementation the company also supplies 800 pcs of the CZ 805 G1 grenade launcher including accessories.
The Stage I. of rearmament culminated by the end of 2013 when CZ delivered to the Armed Forces of the Czech Republic in total 6 310 pcs of the CZ 75 SP-01 PHANTOM pistols in 9 mm cal., 572 pcs of the CZ SCORPION EVO 3 A1 submachine guns in 9 mm cal., 7 937 pcs of the CZ 805 BREN A1/A2 assault rifles in 5.56x45 NATO cal. and 397 pcs. of the CZ 805 G1 grenade launchers.
The Stage II. of rearmament accounted for 7 173 pcs CZ 75 SP-01 PHANTOM pistols in 9 mm cal., 470 pcs of the CZ SCORPION EVO 3 A1 submachine guns in 9 mm cal., 9 741 pcs of the CZ 805 BREN A1/A2 assault rifles and 397 pcs of the CZ 805 G1 grenade launchers.
