The golden medal from the Kalamonas Shooting Range was claimed by a member to the shooting team from Česká Zbrojovka, Zdeněk Heneš, who became the world champion in the Modified Division. Further medals were also decorating other members of the same team, classed within not only the Czech, yet also in the Slovakian, Hungarian or American squads. The 16th IPSC World Championship took place on the Greek island of Rhodes in the period between 28th September and 8th October 2011. The competition – the best staffed WC contest in the IPSC history – was attended by the total of 1,209 shooters from 64 different countries.
The individual competition saw success of the Slovakian shooter - Andrej Hrnčiarik, who became the champion in the Production Division – Junior category as well as the Shoot Off (one on one contest) in the division. The competition also brought trophies to other shooters from Česká Zbrojovka. The Production Division – the Shoot Off class – was dominated by the new champion Ljubiša Momčilovič (Serbia) and MD Miroslav Kameníček, who participated in the Senior category of the open Division (and he also managed to obtain the bronze medal in open Division, the Senior category).
Shooters from Česká Zbrojovka - Znamenáček (ranked 7th as individual) and Liehne (overall 11th place) – then obtained silver medals as the Team ČR in the Standard Division, together with Podlešák, right after the Americans. Heneš (placed 1st in the overall classification) then supplemented his well-deserved gold with a bronze medal awarded to him as a member to the Team ČR in the Modified Division (where he participated together with Heláň and Hořínek). Other bronze medal claimed by the Team ČR in the Open Division, in the female category this time, went to Hořejší and Šutrová cooperating with Šerá, who is a member to the Česká Zbrojovka representation team as well.
The excellent results achieved among teams were also contributed by foreign shooters representing Česká Zbrojovka. The golden Team USA in the Production Division included Vogel (placed 1st among individuals) as well as two shooters from CZ-USA - Mink (placed 3rd) Strader (placed 30th). The silver Team Slovakia comprised Nagy and two shooters representing Česká Zbrojovka - Vyšný (placed 7th in the overall classification) and Hrnčiarik (Junior World Champion).
The IPSC Championship was also a great venue for representation of Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod and their four pistols for practical shooting: Shadow, CZ 75 TS, CZ 75 TS Czechmate and DUTY. The Production Division was totally dominated by CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow pistols used by 95 per cent of participants. The TOP 16 showed 10 Shadow pistols, 1 Glock pistol, 1 Beretta, 1 Sig Sauer pistol and 2 Tangfolio and 1 Grand Power.
This top IPSC event made the shooters manage 30 of very demanding stages with the total number of 500 shots. Besides that, there were many participants to the World Championship (including at least half of the Czech representation team), who had to battle with flu, unfortunately.
