On the weekend of the 25th and 26th of June 2011, the 53rd annual Grand Prix Zbrojovka Brno 2011 was held at the shooting range in Brno, in shot gun disciplines in Soběšice. A total of 170 shooters of all age groups from Slovakia, Cyprus, Poland, Hungary, Denmark and the Czech Republic took part in the competition in shooting at asphalt targets. The main partner of the competition was Zbrojovka Brno.
The absolute finest shooters in the Czech Republic participated in the competition (David Kostelecký, Jiří Lipták, Jan Sychra – holder of the world record SKEET 150/150). From foreign shooters, attention was focussed mainly on Norwegian Brovold, holder of the world record SKEET 150/150.
Jan Sychra won the man SKEET categories with 149 targets, second place went to Tomáš Nýdrle (SLŠ Trutnov) with a result of 148 targets and Ivo Hilšer finished third with 147 targets (BRNO SKEET Competition weapon). Jiří Lipták won in the TRAP category for males, and Iveta Loosová (SKP Kometa Brno) in the TRAP category for females. The competition was dampened by unfavourable weather and by the withdrawal of the Olympic champion David Kostelecky.
The competition was also attended by the President of the Czech Shooting Federation Petr Baroch and state trainers, who expressed satisfaction with the organisation and mainly with the attained results. A decision was made, in spite of Ivo Hilšer’s 5th place position in nominations for the European Championship (3 shooters are going), that he will be sent to the World Cup in Maribor, where he will shoot MQS competition, i.e. outside of the main competition.
