10th annual "Munich Open" taken over by the shooters of Česká zbrojovka

SHADOW (MOMČILOVIČ) "OVERSHADOWS" SIG SAUER (DE COBOS)

Excellent news carries great weight, even if it arrives after some delay. This truism holds good in respect of the shooters of the Česká zbrojovka Factory Team, who, last weekend, attended the 10th annual MUNICH OPEN in IPSC shooting at the shooting range belonging to the German BDS shooting organisation in Philippsburg. 362 shooters from 15 countries participated in the competition; in addition to those from Europe, also representatives from South Africa and the USA.

An outstanding (and agreeable) surprise was provided by the Serb shooter belonging to the Česká zbrojovka Factory Team, Ljubiša Momčilovič, who, in the Production Division, with a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow in the .9x19 calibre, vanquished the reigning European champion from last year's European Championship in Belgrade, a shooter belonging to the Sig Sauer company, Eduardo de Cobos from Spain. Momčilovič also took the top spot in the crowded Production Division.
Other shooters from the CZUB Factory Team also fared well. Martin Kameníček (CZ 75 TS Czechmate in the .9x19 Major calibre) won the Open Division, Zdeněk Heneš (the Dan Wesson pistol in the .40 S&W calibre) took the gold in the Modified Division, Zdeněk Liehne (CZ 75 TS) occupied third place in the Standard Division and Svetlana Nikolayeva (CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow in the .9x19 calibre) won the bronze in the Women's category in the Production Division.

The only cloud on the horizon in the participation of the CZUB shooting team in the Munich Open in Philippsburg was the disqualification of Miroslav Zapletal due to the poor performance of his ammunition.

Among other Czech representatives who fared extremely well were Zdeněk Němeček, who won the Revolver Division, Miloš Šustr, who won the Modified Division in the Senior category and his daughter, Kateřina Šustrová, who won the Open Division in the Women's category.

It is remarkable that more than 90 percent of the shooters in the most popular Production Division used guns made in Uherský Brod. The weapons produced by Česká zbrojovka were also represented, however, in the other divisions.
