The members of the World Class CZ Shooting Team got on quite well at the 3rd Annual CZ Extreme Euro Open 2010 competition that took place in Hodonice, close to Znojmo, last weekend, even though the Production division might have rendered better results.
However, it is necessary to point out that the shooters occupying the first two places in the said division benefited from their schedule for afternoon hours. The rain stopped at that time and the shooting stages were drained. The shooters from CZUB had to perform in heavy rain, with the shooting stages abundant with mud and water. The utterly adverse weather conditions took their toll on one of the best international shooters from CZUB, Ljubiša Momčilovič from Serbia. He slipped while shooting and fell on the ground, resulting in his disqualification due to infringement with the shooting safety angle limit.
The word "extreme" in the description fully reflected the nature of this competition according to the IPSC rules not only because of the weather at the beginning of the week. The weather and sometimes even too strict referees were fatal for the total of 48 disqualified shooters. Another thing worth mentioning is that with the 32 shooting stages in place, this competition was the largest IPSC event in the world, attended by 714 shooters from 38 countries.
The greatest winner of this prestigious and actually the largest competition was Ing. Lubor Novák, together with his “Hell Squad“ shooting club from Brno, who made the necessary preparations and arrangements for this competition. Another great winner to be mentioned definitely is the Česká Zbrojovka Uherský Brod, which followed the tradition to become the general sponsor for this year´s largest shooting competition in the world featuring its product – the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow model – used by more than 96% competitors in the most staffed Production divisions, i.e. more than 200 participants. Another model with good results was the CZ 75 TS pistol achieving silver and bronze ranks in the Standard division, thanks to members of the CZ Shooting Team – Znamenáček and Batki.
Great tribute shall be paid by all the attendees to referees and conveners who managed to handle the harsh weather and the massive number of competitors and the greatest number of shooting stages this year to perform their tasks with professional excellence. Very well done, our ladies and gentlemen referees!
