Team CZ Shooting had axcellent preparation for European Championship

The last weekend’s Delta Cup in Beograd was again dominated by the shooters from Uherský Brod. 5 representatives of Team CZ Shooting shot their way to the podium. The gold medals were won in the difficult conditions by two team members, Martin Kameníček (Open Division) and Adam Tyc (Production Division). Another Czech shooter, Zdeněk Heneš followed their example in the Modified Division. Only the men in the Standard Division did not fulfil expectations. As far as the category of ladies is concerned, Irena Liehne won the gold.

The international competition in practical dynamic shooting, the Fourth Open Delta Cup 2009, was held at the excellent shooting range of the Serbian fast-deployment unit (SAJ) in Beograd from 2 to 6 September. The same shooting range will host the European Championship in September 2010 and, therefore, this year’s competition was the last test of the readiness of shooters, organisers, and shooting range before the forthcoming European Championship.

The competition was participated by 360 shooters from 28 countries, including the USA and South Africa. The major part of the field was, naturally, formed by the shooters from the former Yugoslavian republics, namely Croats, Slovenians, Montenegrins, and the shooters from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The competition attracted many spectators and was also visited by the Serbian ministers of the interior and sports and education. The competition had a great atmosphere and was covered by the major television channels. The interview of the national Serbian television with Adam Tyc, a member of Team CZ Shooting and the two-time world champion, was broadcast also by other Serbian television media.

The organisers prepared 20 difficult shooting situations which tested the shooting capability of all competitors. The weather conditions played a bit with the shooters when a tropical temperature of 35 ºC affected the first day shooting day. The second day started with a cloudburst. Fortunately, the weather then settled down and the shooters had ideal conditions for the remainder of the competition.

22 shooters and 2 masters from the Czech Republic participated in the competition. The function of the Range Master was delegated to Milan Trkulja, Manager of Team CZ Shooting, who was also offered to take up the same function for the forthcoming European Championship.
