Česká zbrojovka Wins an Award in “Packaging of the Year” Competition

Česká zbrojovka a.s. was awarded in 17th year of “Packaging of the Year” competition, in “Transportation and Technological Packaging” category. Ing. Andrej Myšinský, the manager of the gunstock manufacturing plant of Česká zbrojovka a.s., informs on the details.

Who brought in the requirement to create the packaging and why did such requirement actually arise?

The intention to create a new packaging came from Česká zbrojovka. The need to redesign the method of packaging of this product resulted from introduction of a new stock type for which oiling surface finishing is used. Our priority was to protect stocks against mechanical damage during transportation and storage. Another, equally important requirement was airiness and low weight of the packaging.
We had a basic idea about the new packaging but use of paper boxes as a semifinished product for partitions in transport cases was unsatisfactory in terms of service life and weather resistance.
Step by step, a sample was created, which was optimised by the supplier to achieve its final form based on our comments and practical verification.

When was the basic idea born and how long did the implementation take?

The basic idea came into being in the early part of last year. The co-operation with the solver was commenced in early April 2011. The proper implementation of the project took approximately three months.

What are the basic parameters of the packaging?

The basic material is cartonplast, transparent, having the thickness of 4mm with cut out Trocellen parts to provide protection against scratching and to fix the stock against movement. The package weight is approximately 6 kg.

Is it the first time a packaging of Česká zbrojovka, or for Česká zbrojovka was awarded?

Yes, it is the very first award of this kind. We appreciate it and I believe it is an inspiration for us for our future work.
