At first, Česká zbrojovka, a joint-stock company based in Prague and having its main factory in Strakovice in South Bohemia, was greatly alarmed by the idea of building a brand new armaments factory in South-East Moravia. Indeed, the purely private armaments factory in Strakonice had long been in the red and Česká průmyslová banka (Czech Industrial Bank) in Prague, to whose group the company belonged, was even seriously considering its sale for this reason. And just when the company situation started to change for the better at the end of the first half of 1930′s, the representatives of the Czechoslovak military administration knocked on the door, imposing an uncompromising requirement to relocate the military production somewhere to the east of the republic, as far as possible from the western borders, behind which the Nazi Germany overtly started to arm.
