The success of the CZ 75 SP-01 at 3-Gun Championship in the Philippines

The period from 14th October till 25th October 2009 saw the 3-Gun AustralAsian IPSC Championship for three types of firearms (pistol, rifle and shotgun) hosted in Clark, Philippines. Despite the not very convenient weather, the organising body - PPSA (Philippine Practical Shooting Association) – prepared very challenging shooting scenarios for participating competitors. The total number of 1.000 competitors from all over the World, yet mainly from the AustralAsian region, took part in this championship. The evaluation of results was processed with respect to overall achievements as well as particular types of firearms. The most shooters competed in the pistol group, which comprised 500 competitors. The Czech Republic and Česká zbrojovka were represented by Adam Tyc in the Production Division, Martin Kameníček in the Open Division and Petr Znamenáček in the Standard Division. All three showed excellent performance. Adam Tyc won the Division Production, Martin Kameníček gained the silver medal finishing literally within a hair after an excellent U.S. shooter with global reputation – Mr. Jo Jo Vidanes. Petr Znamenáček was awarded with a very good bronze medal in the relevant division.

Pistol versions CZ 75 SP-01 yielded great success in dominating the Production Division. The first three places in the male category of the main competition, further gold medals in female, junior and senior categories. More than a half of competitors in the Production Division were competing with pistols manufactured by Česká Zbrojovka a.s.

Česká zbrojovka a.s. celebrated commercial achievements in the Philippines as well. The President of the Philippines Police Force, Mr. Jesus A Verzosa, who participated in the entire championship using the CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow pistol, finished this shooting challenge and stated that the results of the championship helped him conclude the final qualified decision as to which manufacturer should be selected to supply pistols for the Police Force of the Philippines. His words were further supported with a confirmed order for CZ 75 P-07 Duty pistols.

It was almost hard to believe, how favourite the practical shooting is in the Philippines. Shooters from the CZ Shooting Team were the main celebrities at this shooting competition. Faces of Martin Kameníček, Adam Tyc and Pepa Rakušan were posted on huge banners all over Clark, shooters of the CZ Shooting Team gave their signatures on hundreds of posters, caps, T-shirts and leaflets throughout the whole championship. Everybody wanted to take a picture with us. Adam encountered adoration by anyone and simply everywhere. We had problems to get out of McDonald’s, where we used to have our breakfast every morning. It would always take us up to an hour to fight our way through to the car.

Despite the permanent mud and sweat during the competition, we can consider our participation at the 3-Gun AustralAsian Championship a great success. And that be in relevance to both sports and business-marketing aspects.
