In the days from 1st to 7th June 2009 in Hodonice near Znojmo, Czech Republic we have seen II. CZ Extreme Euro Open shooting competition with practical pistol. The general sponsor of this event was Česká zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod. It was the biggest competition this year so far in the world with active involvement of 613 shooters coming from 42 countries, who had to fight with 30 demanding situations. Around 450 shooters interested to participate in this championship were not admitted as the available capacity of this competition was hopelessly sold out, and that already in the first days after competition proposals publication.
The Team CZ Shooting, despite the fact that its two stars, Martin Kameníček, who was disqualified for the safe angle breach at the stage No. 15 and Petr Znamenáček, who could not start because of knee injury, the Team CZ Shooting achievements were marvellous. In the Open Division, Martin Kameníček was fully replaced by his colleague Miroslav Havlíček, who made the greatest performance of his life when shooting through with his CZ 75 TS Czechmate pistol, among competitors from the whole world, and still achieving excellent 3rd place. The absence of Petr Znamenáček was compensated with youth Zdeněk Liehne confirmed that expectations invested into his prowess are justified, when he shot through with his CZ 75 TS pistol, for him certainly superb 3rd place. Also this Division has been “strongly manned”, perhaps only shooters from the USA were missing to complete the world competition. Prestigious Production Division was the most strongly manned Division, both from the number of competitors and from the view of participating shooters quality. The competition in this Division was fully carried out under direction of the Team CZ Shooting and pistols of the CZ 75 SP-01 family. The General Manager of Česká zbrojovka a.s. Uherský Brod, Ing. Lubomír Kovařík wore a sunny smile when handing over prizes for the winners of Production Division. All top 3 places were occupied by shooters from the shooting program of the Team CZ Shooting, the order was as follows: Adam Tyc, Miroslav Zapletal and Angus Hobdell (CZ-USA). Other achievements of the Team CZ Shooting and of their handguns manifested itself in individual categories when MUDr. Miroslav Kameníček won the Open Division, Senior Category, Andrej Hrnčiarik won the Production Division, in the Junior Category and Irena Liehne added Silver Medal in the Standard Division for the "Lady" Category.
There was no other competition in the practical shooting in the past where such an overwhelming dominance of handguns made by České zbrojovky a.s., show itself as in this very championship. On the basis of the long-term success of shooters of the Team CZ Shooting the fans of shooting from the whole world took a real liking of pistols made in Uherský Brod, especially for their reliability, accuracy and durability.
The management of the CZ Extreme Euro Open championship headed by the Match Director Ing. Lubor Novák, prepared for all participating shooters fantastic, but extremely demanding shooting experience. The happy winner, a shooter from Sweden, even took home Chevrolet car, when his name was drawn from a hat in tombola, open to everybody who took part in this shooting championship. Difficulty of competition is also illustrated by 36 disqualified shooters, who were disqualified mostly for safety reasons. Excellent work was carried out by all referees, who spent on the shooting range 7 really tough days from dawn to dusk, and that in their own free time, without any entitlement to financial compensation.
