Sa vz. 58

The Model 58 Assault Rifle is an individual weapon for all kinds of armed forces. It is an automatic, light small arm in cal. 7,62x39mm, allowing the fire to be conducted either in bursts or semi-automatic mode.

Despite the official designation and the fact that it is the design of the end of the 1950s this weapon is modern conceived assault rifle with attractive user parameters. The weapon can be shot in semi-automatic or fully automatic fire. The function of this weapon is based on well-proven principle of gas tapped from the bore to the gas piston. A unique breech block mechanism with hinged locking piece having symmetrical locking lugs exhibits extreme simplicity and locking rigidness and at the same exerts a positive effect for the high accuracy. The firing mechanism is made of linear travel striker and floating firing pin mounted in the breech block. The breech block carrier is not linked to the piston, so the magazine can be promptly loaded through the action with stripper clips when the bolt is locked to the rear. The front sight base serves as a mounting platform for edged bayonet or folding bipod. Weapon’s barrel muzzle is threaded for a blank-firing attachment or flash hider. The barrel bore is hard chrome plated. The vz. 58 weighs without the magazine and bayonet only 2.91 kg, or 3.77 kg with fully loaded magazine and bayonet fixed, which outperforms all competitive products of this caliber.

Česká zbrojovka a.s. produced the vz. 58 assault rifle in three variants:
  • vz. 58 P (infantry version with fixed stock);
  • vz. 58 V (paratrooper version with folding stock);
  • vz. 58 Pi (with fixed stock and mounting interface for an infrared night vision).

Only fundamental weakness of these extremely reliable weapons, which are still in use in armies and security units of the Czech Republic, Slovak Republic and several other countries, is a limited possibility for mounting of optoelectronic sighting devices.

Therefore Česká zbrojovka a.s. offers updated vz. 58 assault rifle in accordance with customers´ needs and requirements - within the framework of overall renovation these weapons can be equipped with plastic grip and stock having standardized mounting rails, compensators or short magazines
