The Dan Wesson pistols are modern stainless steel clones of the legendary Colt M1911 pistol, specifically of the Series 70 M1911A1. As such, they are a conventional Browning-type locked breech design with two locking lugs on the upper part of the barrel just ahead of the chamber, with the short recoil of the barrel being controlled by the tilting link held by the slide stop pin under the chamber.
