The CZ brand triumphs at a record breaking IWA

This year’s 43rd annual international trade fair, the IWA OutdoorClassics took place between 4th and 7th March 2016 and broke many records. Besides the highest ever number of exhibitors and visitors so far, it was the number of new products presented by Česká zbrojovka a.s.

According to tradition, the IWA took place at the NürnbergMesse, an exhibition centre in Nuremberg, in Germany. It is one of the world's largest trade fairs focused on the presentation of weapons, ammunition and all other equipment related to hunting, sport, defence and security forces. Its dominance has been confirmed by this year’s numbers: the displays of 1,455 exhibitors from 56 countries was visited by a record number of more than 45,000 trade visitors from around the world.

Česká zbrojovka a.s. enjoyed extraordinary attention at its stand, in Nuremberg it presented an impressive number of new products from most of its product lines.

At the forefront there was the new CZ Shadow 2 sport pistol, which came into being by radically improving the legendary CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow model. The CZ Shadow 2 saw its premiere at the IWA in grand style in the form of a well-attended press conference and subsequent christening at the company’s stand. The ceremony was attended by Ing. Lubomír Kovařík, the Chief Executive Officer of the Uherský Brod company, Ing. Ladislav Britaňák, the Commercial Director and Maria Guščina, the twice world champion in IPSC shooting and member of the CZ Shooting Team, who became the weapon’s godmother.

The CZ Shadow 2 took up a substantial part of the Česká zbrojovka display, where different variations of this striking model attracted great attention from the visitors.

Another favourably received new product was the CZ P-07 Kadet pistol and adapter for .22 LR cartridges, with which Česká zbrojovka swiftly responded to the growing popularity of rimfire handguns.

Regarding long rifles, several additions to the successful CZ 557 family were introduced at the IWA. Above all, there were two related models of .308 Winchester calibre: the CZ 557 Range Rifle with mechanical sights and double set trigger mechanism, and the highly accurate CZ 557 Varmint with a heavy barrel with no mechanical sights and with an anatomically shaped stock. Common elements of these new rifles are the more compact bolt system, a high-capacity magazine for 10 rounds and the Weaver mounting rail. The new CZ 557 FS, with the stock extended to the muzzle, follows the hunting tradition, while supporters of the latest trends are enticed by the CZ 557 Predator model sporting a durable polymer stock with real tree camouflage and soft touch surface.

As for rimfire rifles, the model that sparked the most interest of the visitors was the semi-automatic CZ 512 Tactical model with "tactical" stock and forend fittings in the style of assault rifles. In .22 LR calibre, it is supplied with a 25 round magazine as standard. This model series is also complemented by the CZ 512 Carbine with a shortened barrel, robust tangent rear sight and beech stock and forend stained in an impressive silvery black shade, and the CZ 512 American with a 525 mm barrel without mechanical sights, partially redesigned walnut stock and forend in oil finish.

The new generation of the CZ 455 repeating rimfire rifles is rapidly growing too. This year, three new models were introduced in Nuremberg. The CZ 455 Camp Rifle is an interesting rifle with a length adjustable stock using plastic inserts for the rubber buttplate. It also has an adapter that allows loading only directly into the chamber, and a fully adjustable dioptre rear sight suitable for basic shooting training as well as a so-called survival weapon. The CZ 455 Evolution GG and CZ 455 American Red models show the strength of colours. The first has the original Evolve type stock made of laminated wood, however, the combination of green, brown and grey makes the final result very different. As for the second weapon, a similar effect is achieved by using red staining on the beech stock, with an additional detail of redesigned black checkering on the grip surfaces.

An interesting new product in the rimfire rifles segment was also the CZ 455 Fly Weight Trigger, an interchangeable set intended for the rebuilding of CZ 455 weapons for precision target shooting.

We must not forget the new CZ 200 S Green high power airgun, which caught the attention of IWA visitors with its green coloured one-piece stock with a black roughening of the pistol grip, adjustable buttstock and a cheekpiece.

And this is not all regarding the flood of new products at Nuremberg. At the IWA, Česká zbrojovka a.s. also introduced products from other CZ family brands. First and foremost there were the CZ-USA shotguns, the over and unders: Mallard G2, Redhead Premier, Sporter, and a side-by-side: the Sharp Tail. In addition, the Brno Combo rifle/shotgun could not miss the Nuremberg event, its attractiveness was increased especially by the new roughening of grip surfaces.

The IWA OutdoorClassics 2016 trade fair was a great success for Česká zbrojovka a.s., as the record number of innovations confirming the strength and growth of our company brought an unprecedented number of visitors to the company’s stand.

We thank all fans of the CZ brand for visiting our stand, for showing interest in our products and for the support that motivates us to continuously improve and search for new paths.
